The rustle of fabric could be heard as she donned on her uniform for work. It was a bit of a skimpy dress for her modest tastes, but who was she to complain when the job paid her a resonable sum of yen per hour? The cafe typically was a higher-end one with a warm and comfortable atmosphere in its midst. She enjoyed her job there because of the people; the work wasn't too bad at all either, never anything overly taxing and well within her skill set.
Ishiria turned to face her full-length mirror with very little interest, eyeing her uniform from the cafe anxiously. It came a little above her knees, revealing very pale legs that barely saw the sun, white ruffles fluffing out from the bottom of the black and white dress. She then pinned her hair up into a half pony tail, the rest of the blood-red waves cascading down her back like a waterfall of flames.
She sighed then picked up her school bag, slinging it over her shoulder with a grunt.
'How much does this thing WEIGH?' she questioned herself mentally. It had to at least weigh the size of a small child or some equivalent.
A bark from her dog brought her back to reality in a snap, causing her to smile.
"Behave, Matthias!" Ishiria laughed, grabbing her coat off the hook beside the door as she shut it behind her, locking it with a solid 'click!'
Two flights of stairs found her at the entrance of her dingy but habitable apartment building and staring out into the bustling, midday street. Why is it that the uncertainty of the world, anywhere at all, now completely scared her to her wits end? These agoraphobic feelings certainly did not stem from her childhood, but perhaps it had been moving away from the familiarity of her home. Nevertheless, she masked these feelings as best as she could, sprinting out the door to the cafe down the street. Her eyes stayed as glued to the ground as much as possible, relying on her peripherals to make sure she didn't run into anything as much as she used to. The only reassuring sound and sight would be that of the bell on the door that signaled a person's entrance.
Once she heard it, she stepped in anxiously, shrugging off her coat as she scuttled behind the counter and exchanged it for her pristeen white apron.
"Good. Now that you're here, I can start my break," said the girl that was currently behind the counter, removing her apron and retiring to the back.
Ishiria murmured a reply, far too unfamiliar with the girl that she vaguely knew as Masami, letting her know that she could. She tucked a stray hair behind her ear and began to wipe down the marble surface, glancing around the fairly empty shop for the next customer.

You poor sweet, innocent thing .x..x..x. Dry your eyes and testify ------------------------------------ What a day! The sun draped across the ground of the busy Domino Square. There was not a cloud in the sky and the sun was very happy today. Well, that's how Kumiko would put it. However, the air was chilly and the wind made her ears numb. Maybe it would have been a smart idea to wear a scarf. Well, she couldn't go back to her apartment now, she was too far away. Her bright blue eyes sparkled with happiness, despite the fact she was chilly. She wouldn't let it ruin her day! She giggled happily as she pulled at her grey colored coat, pulling it up and closer to her face and neck. Her black mittens-- yes mittens, covered her hands to keep her warm as she continued down the path in which she was taking. Her black boots made a clank against the ground, her black pin-stripped black pants shifted at the bottoms with every step she took. A huge smile graced her pale face as she continued to walk against the ground. She was far too bubbly for her own good. But she supposed that it would be for the good reasons. She hoped that maybe if she was happy, it would make someone else happy.
But maaannn was she bored! She was not sure what she was to do on a day like today. She had no work today, she was out of school, well this was a drag. But none the less she kept smiling big. She thought about walking back to her apartment and spending the day with her small little Dwarf hamster named Chiisana and her Shiba Inu puppy Himeko. But she felt she spent enough time indoors outside of work, her being as pale as Casper was proof enough of her own claim. She eyed around a little bit, smiling more at the children that ran by her. She loved kids, and seeing them play made her even happier. She couldn't wait for the day when she would become a mother, or a teacher, or both. The thought slipped her mind as she spied a stray black cat roaming around a small little cafe.
Without hesitation, she skipped over toward the cat (yes, she skipped). Her long grey hair went moving with her as she came to a stop. The small black cat looked up at her, arching back in fear. The smile on Kumiko's face bent into a frown as she looked at the cat. It couldn't have been older then a year or so. Kumiko slowly bend down, her knees bending back and her feet keeping her balanced. The cat got out of it's defensive position and titled it's head curiously. Kumiko's smile slowly returned. Already, her love of animals made her feel super attached to the kitten she had just met. She held her arms out with a huge smile, hoping the kitten might find this an inviting gesture.
"Oh it's okay kitty, I won't hurt you."
The cat continued to stare curiously. It finally took Kumiko's invitation and jumped in to her arms. She giggled as the cat rubbed along her coat, nudging the top of it's head under her chin, looking for affection, almost as if it was like she was meant to find him. She rocked the kitten, and shifted herself to that she could free one arm to snake around the cat. Her hand then found it's way to the top the cat's head, and she petted softly in between his ears. This caused the cat to purr rather loudly and Kumiko fell even more in love with the cat. She was determined to take him home. She stood up with the cat, and felt her stomach grumbled. Ohhh, that was another thing she forgot to do before she left the apartment -- eat. She looked to right and spotted a nice little cafe.
"Ohhh no, I am not sure if they allow cats... here kitty, sit in my purse, there is not a lot in there I promise, I will get you something to eat too!"
The cat was hesitant at first, but eventually seemed to agree. Kumiko shifted her arms once more so that one arm held the cat while the other moved so that her fingers could grab a hold of her purse, which was hanging from her shoulder. She moved her arm back to open it up. The cat jumped in, finding the only thing in her purse was her wallet. The cat squirmed a bit, then peeked it's head out and meowed with curiosity. She laughed, and pet the cat on the head on last time. When she started walking toward the cafe, the cat went down in her purse, as if the cat knew what was going on. She looked into the windows of the cafe curiously, looking inside. She has never seen this place before, but it looked nice. She smiled big, and skipped to the door. She pulled it open with a little too much strength and hit herself in the face with the door. Stumbling back a bit, she groaned and rubbed her face. This time, she took a bit more caution. Once she entered the cafe, she immediately became nervous. She eyed the girl a the counter and fumbled with her hands. Unless she really got to know someone, she was nervous with strangers. She took slow steps toward the counter. When she got there she put her hands down, and her voice was almost a whisper.
"Uhm, hello. Can I possibly order something?
Wow Kumiko, what a stupid question, well, that was her internal though anyways.

Today had been absolute hell. A deep sigh escaped her soft coral pink-hued lips. Her deep blue eyes flicked around in moderate curiousity as she headed towards a local cafe. Her sea-blue hair was pulled into a high ponytail with her bangs lightly dusted across her forehead and some loose tendrils of her hair gently touching the bottoms of her cheeks. Her attire was a pair of black flares with a bit of embellishment on the bottom of the cuffs for a bit of added sparkle.
On her feet were a pair of knee-high black fur-lined boots. They were comfy and warm for a chilly day like this. Her top was a lavender v neck long-sleeved top with 3/4 length sleeves. Over top her shirt was a long calf-length plum purple coat with large 1 inch buttons on it and was half-buttoned so it swished lightly around her calves and she wore a pair of black gloves.
She clutched a simple black leather messenger bag which held the essentials along with her constant companian Isis. The Mau poked her head up from the bag and mewed at her. Sam glanced down at her and smiled "Hey Isis" She said and reached over, petting the feline between her ears which made the cat purr happily, closing her bright intelligent green eyes. Arriving at the cafe, she opened the door and shivered a little bit. The warmth in the cafe was a welcoming feeling and she unbuttoned her coat "Oh my goddess it's cold out there.." She muttered, then headed over to the counter "Can I get a mocha please?" She inquired and smiled at her.

Startled by the sudden realization that she had customers in front of her, Ishiria quickly regained her composure and put on her best 'I'm here to serve you' smile that she often used for her work. She first turned to the shorter-haired girl, the one who was in front, eyeing her appearance. She couldn't have been much older or younger than herself. Under the bundle of fluffy, gray coat, Ishiria noted that she'd seen this girl somewhere before. Perhaps school, roaming the hallways to get to her next class in a hurry. She decided she'd best not broach that subject, for seeming too curious for her own good. Instead, she actually did her job.
"Of course, what can I get you?" she asked in a vaguely sincere and cheery tone, but in a quiet way. She wasn't one to raise her voice too much unless she was truly comfortable with the people around her, which was not very often, to say the least. It took a lot for her to trust others within her comfort zones that would allow her to let down her barriers. Trust was something she rarely gave, for having it being crushed so often before with her parents.
Ishiria then nodded her assent to the girl who had come straight up to the counter beside the other girl. She guessed this girl frequented the cafe often enough to order straight away, but she couldn't recognize the dark blue hair or the pale face that stood out from underneath it. It was to be expected though, since this was her first day on the afternoon shift rather than the morning one. She figured she'd be seeing these people more often then.
"One mocha? Would you like any whipped cream with that, miss?" Ishiria asked as she bent down under the counter to retrieve one of the standard sized plastic cups that they used for the mochas, as well as the other drinks. As she stood up, she glanced at their bags, noticing bulging bags that seemed to... move ever so slightly. (Ishiria was good with spotting little movements. Increased paranoia tended to do that to a person.) She so desperately wanted to ask what was in them, thanks to her cursed curiosity, but she had a notion as to what the contents of the bags were.

Samantha pondered about the whipping cream for a moment on top of her mocha, then nodded at the girl "Whipped Cream sounds good actually, and can I get a small bit of milk on the side?" She inquired as a quiet mew escaped from her bag. A low groan escaped Sam's lips and the mau popped it's head up from the bag.
"Isis! you're supposed to stay hidden." She admonished the feline and frowned. Isis gave a 'whatever' kind of meow and glanced at Ishiria with her bright green eyes. "I'm terribly sorry, she goes everywhere with me and rarely leaves my side.."
A light pink tinge crossed Sam's face in her embarassment, great, now she was probably going to get kicked out of the cafe for having an animal in a place that wouldn't allow that sort of thing. She had actually told the feline to stay at home, but Isis had been persistent, following the girl around her apartment and sneaking into her bag when she went to brush her hair. Sam mentally shook her head and scratched behind her neck.

I'm in love alright .x.x. With my crazy beautiful life -------------------------------------------------- Kumiko stood there for a moment, one of her hands placed thoughtfully under her chin. She tilted her head in wonder as she looked at the board that was placed behind Ishiria that showed all of what was to offer for her. She was rather hungry, and thirsty for that matter. She also had to consider she had to feed a small black cat who was sitting in her bag, every now and then shifting it's place. She decided that her drink had to be something super warm, and that she had to have a small snack or else her stomach would turn out to be very upset. When the cat moved once again, she placed her left hand over the bag, soothing the cat, and the cat once more returned to being idle. After a few minutes of pondering, thinking, she finally had her decision. When she decided to go up to the counter and say exactly what she wanted, she was interrupted by another customer. With that, she stopped mid step and backed up a little bit.
She was a little bit pissed of in her head, she had been first in line and though the woman next to her/in front of her was being rather rude, but she kept it to herself as usual, and she waited patiently, with that huge smile on her face. Had she been one to speak her mind she would have told the one next/in front of her that she was being rude and that you are supposed to wait in line, and since she had arrived first, she was the one to go first. But she kept silent as she waited for her turn. Instead of waiting for the woman to finish however, she dipped her hand in her bag. Trying not to hit the cat, she pulled out a notebook. Then she moved her hand to a side pouch and took out a pen. Moving the pen to her other hand, she opened the notebook and flipped to a blank page. With some difficulty, she flipped the cover and the other pages back, and clicked open on her pen. On the paper, she wrote her order. One medium hot chocolate, a rice crispy treat, and a small milk. She was not sure what to feed the kitten she found outside, but she was sure that the kitten would enjoy milk.
She walked up to the counter, and placed the piece of paper on the counter, which word for word said "The girl with the grey hair would like a medium hot chocolate, a rice crispy, and a small milk." She backed up, satisfied. She was not going to be rude by forcing the poor woman behind the counter to do even more and worry about two people at a time. She could ring the one with the blue hair up and help her first. She stepped back against the wall, and waited patiently, the smile never leaving her face. Yeah, she defiantly never gave herself away. Once the cat in the other girls back came out, her kitten must have sensed there was another cat in the area. The small black kitten shifted in her back, and clawed at the bag. It managed to peek it's small head out and peeked around. The kitten meowed, and Kumiko looked down. She would have panicked, and she would have been worried, but that kitten was far too cute.
"Awwww, you silly kitty. You must have sensed the other one!"
She took her left hand and pet the kitten. The black kitten purred and the kitten took it's head and nudged her head into Kumiko's hand. Kumiko giggled. She could not wait to get her order so she could go outside and open the milk so the cat could get something to drink at least. After that, she could take the kitten back to her apartment and they could spend the day together, getting the kitten used to her Shiba Inu puppy. She was super excited to have another furry addition to her animal family. She was not even worried if she would get kicked out or not. She was very happy and her heart was full of care and warmth for the small kitten, and it almost radiated. She was so happy to take in an animal in need. She then looked up at the counter to see if the order for the other female was ready and if she could approach the counter to get her order.

Ishiria nodded in response at first to the order, looking back at the woman after glancing at the bags with interest, and then blinked in curiousity after she had made the blue-haired woman her drink as the other girl had laid her a note of her order on the counter. She smiled in amusement and tucked it away, nodding once again in reply to show she was getting right on it.
With the small cup of milk placed to the side of the mocha, Ishiria was ready to make the order given to her on the paper when she saw both cats pop their heads out of the bags. 'So there WAS something in their bags... oh wait, what if someone sees them! I don't want them to get kicked out...' She glanced about the cafe anxiously, anticipating stares and gaping visages of wonder at the animals. However, she found that, in her lapse of observance, there were not any other patrons in the cafe and that the other two or three workers were either all on break or doing other things in the back.
Then, she quickly realized she had an obligation to follow the rules and ask them to leave since they had animals in their bags. But she couldn't. Her will was weakened as she looked at them, her emotions becoming warm and fuzzy, probably like the cats were. Sighing in defeat, she quickly got the younger girl's order around, placing that down on the counter beside the other one.
Ishiria then bent over the counter to the two of them, carefully avoiding the drinks and such, cupping a hand by her mouth, a bit unnecessarily as the cafe was still rather quiet.
"If you guys want to stay warm and give them some milk, I suggest sitting at that back table," she offered helpfully, pointing a slender finger in the direction of the back of the cafe. "If you guys give me a few minutes, I can even bring back some scraps of food. Just make sure they don't stray from underneath the table, okay?"

Aaron entered the coffee shop, smiling smugly to himself as he generally did on his own. He was still filled with energy, and pride from yesterday's escapade at the club, and was hoping to celebrate with a quick icy mocha, or a frapacino.
The bells on the door jingled softly, as the 6'2, thin but muscular blond entered, sporting a long, gray overcoat, and a white, slightly too long sleeved hoodie. His blond hair flowed ever so slightly in the Autumn breeze.
The first thing Aaron noticed was the lack of customers; only two young girls drinking coffee, and...
Were they pouring milk into their purses?
Ignoring that odd fact, the second thing Aaron noticed was the gorgeous redhead behind the counter.
In an act as flashy and dramatic as an eccentric anime character, he tossed aside his gray coat, and soared through the air, landing a tad lopsidedly on the nearby coat wrack.
His next move was to approach the counter, a rose appearing from no where held in his hand. Staring deeply into the roses petals, he sighed ever so softly.
"I came in here, an order of coffee on my mind... But once I saw you, it all went blank... Perhaps you could suggest something for me? Something to warm my cold, lonely heart..."
He looked up, love, and an inner sadness filling his eyes.

Ishiria had been tempted to go back and get the food for the two girls in the back right away, but she heard the door's bell jingle as anotther customer entered, thinking better of it. She straightened her dress as she manned her post once more. The man who approached was certainly flashy, of that she couldn't deny. As he hung his coat dramatically and delivered his cheesy lines, she couldn't help but feel slightly... awed? She couldn't wrack her brain fast enough for a proper word as her breath caught in her throat. Never had someone actually hit on her like this before, even in America.
Her shy and reserved nature was creeping in again, causing her face to turn a shade of red that wasn't too far off from her bright red hair. As he looked up at her, she licked her lips very nervously as she began to speak. Or rather, stutter.
"W-well... I.. today's special is... a gingerb-bread spice latte... or the hot cider is very nice, too, i-if you're looking for something warm..." Another nervous habit of hers was biting her lip, which soon began. At one point she bit down into the outer flesh of her lip, causing it to bleed. Shocked, she almost went to touch it gingerly, but opted for quickly grabbing for a napkin and dabbing at it.
"I'm sorry. When I get n-nervous, I tend to get anxious," she meekly apologized, not stuttering quite as badly now, but staring right at him. He was actually quite handsome, what with his hair and general good looking appearance. Looking at him caused her to think twice about things. However, she simply ignored whatever thoughts she'd have and just go with it. Dabbing gently at her self-inflicted wound, she tossed the napkin away, leaving only faint traces of copper on her tastebuds.

"Mmm... The gingerbread latte sounds heavenly. I think I'll have two."
He smiled at the stuttering red head before him. In all honesty, it was quite cute. He rarely had this kind of reaction on girls, but that was okay. He knew how to run with this.
"It's perfectly okay," he said softly, smiling wider, in a generally friendly manner, "I'm just glad you're not to badly hurt."
He glanced again at those two odd girls in the back. They were! They were actually pouring milk into their purses! And the purses were making a very faint mewling noise.

Gaining a bit more confidence from his smile and choice, she nodded and smiled as well.
"All right! Two gingerbread spice lattes!" She ducked down under the counter to grab the two cups and began preparing. As she did this, Ishiria talked over her shoulder.
"Nah, I don't end up severely injured," she replied calmly, blending the drinks thoroughly after she had emptied each ingredient into the machine. "I'm just a bit of a klutz most days." Ishiria put a lid on each one, smiling to herself slightly for some odd reason. Turning back around, she set both lattes on the counter in front of him. "Consider them on the house, okay?"
Ishy then trailed his line of vision back to the girls sitting in the farthest table, giving the cats in the bags the milk they had ordered. "I really hope they don't get me fired," she muttered underneath her breath as she pressed her palm to her forehead. If she lost her job here because she decided to spare them from the cold, she'd be the one out in the cold after losing her apartment for lack of efficient funds...

Aaron smiled at the pretty red head again.
"That was very kind, what you did for those girls... Damn... I just realized I ordered two gingerbread lattes... What am I going to do with the second... Hey, would you like to sit down, and maybe drink one of these for me? I won't tell management, and it doesn't look like you're particular busy..."
He smiled again.

She had to laugh at his cleverness. Ishy had had an idea where that second one was going, but she decided to play somewhat coy. Once she got past her nervousness, things became easier and a bit more fun. Glancing cautiously over her shoulder to the back where the workroom was and then back, she nodded.
"All right, sure. Why not?" Ishiria slipped out from behind the counter, finding her way back to her favorite window booth that got a decent view of the city and it's towering skyscrapers, especially that of Kaiba Corporation.
"This seat all right?" she asked, sliding into the booth with care. Ishy was careful not to do something stupid and klutzy now. She had grabbed the other latte he had offered and brought it with her, taking off the lid to let out the hot steam, the pungent scent of gingerbread filling her senses. Sighing contentedly, she glanced out the window and then right back to him, waiting.

To be honest, Aaron was a tad puzzled. This trick worked less than 1 in a thousand times, and overall, this whole cafe was a bit puzzling. Purses that mewed, and drank milk, flaming headed girls who went along with his lame lines, good service at a coffee shop in the inner city, no lines... The list went on...
But, than again, things had been going his way. Maybe there was something to this confidence thing.
"Yeah, this booth is perfect," he said, his smile tinged slightly with puzzlement.
He opened his own latte, and took a small sip. It tasted good. Very good.

Ishiria sipped slowly, enjoying each wave of spice that came to her. It wasn't often she actually enjoyed the cafe's drinks. She considered doing it more often now.
"For being late fall, it's certainly pretty out...," she murmured, mostly to herself, knowing it was poor quality small talk. Ishy rested her chin upon her palm, becoming lost in thought for a few fleeting moments, mulling over her current situation as she looked out the window. What did he have to gain from hitting on a stupid, silly, timid girl like her? Then, as though out of nowhere, she realized that she didn't even know his name and vice versa.
Stammering, Ishy said, "Oh, goodness! How stupid... I didn't even tell you my name..." As an afterthought, she added under her breath, "I guess I forgot to wear my nametag, too. Way to go... Anyways, my name's Ishiria Dennison, but you can call me Ishy." She meekly blushed after saying her own ridiculous nickname. "Sorry if it sounds really silly. It's just easier since my nickname is more pronouncable than my given name."
