History: Marik was born in Egypt to Mr. and Mrs. Ishtar. He is the youngest child. He has an older sister, Ishizu, and an older adopted brother, Odion, his protector. As the oldest blood related son, Marik was initiated to become a tomb keeper. He had no interest in being one. Odion, begged to take his place, but was rejected time and time again.
Odion was responsible for caring for Marik. To play, feed, and help him. Even when Marik was bitten by a snake, he was grateful of Odion, he was his only real friend.
The day Marik was initiated, something horrible happened; something not very nice. The anger that was living, growing, feeding inside Marik broke out. Odion was the only person that could keep this evil under control. They never spoke of it again.
Marik always dreamed of living above ground in the outside world; being a tomb keeper Marik was born and raised underground, and hated it. In his heart, he was never to become a tomb keeper, he would leave and his life would be up to him.
One day, Marik begged his older sister to take him to the surface, until she final agreed. Ishizu asked Odion to help them by covering in case their father found they were gone. Odion was more than glad to help.
Once out in the open, Marik was free. He couldn't believe the wonders of the surface world. The rising sun, the people, the shops, the amazing talking box, things he'd never seen in his scriptures. He never wanted it to end. Then suddenly, he saw it. It was red, and looked much too strange to be an animal. He promised himself that when he was older he would have whatever it was. However, a strange man appeared before them, warning them not to go against their destiny. Marik was tired of people telling him what to do.
However, his fun finally came to an end. Ishizu forced him to leave; But before he did, he found a picture of that mysterious thing he found so fascinating. He learned it was called a motorcycle. Ishizu let him keep the picture, but he had to promise to keep it hidden.
However, his father DID find out, hurt Odion, and was very cross. This was all too much for Marik; and the evil within took hold of him, and took the Millenium Rod. Ishizu couldn't control the evil: Only Odion could. The evil sent Marik's father to the Shadow Realm, in other words, he killed him. Odion came to, just as the evil was about to finish off this sister. Marik didn't remember a thing, and just as they thought all was alright, the same man from before appeared, warning them yet again. Marik decided that it was this man whom had killed his father.
Years passed, and as they did Marik grew, hating, loathing the Pharaoh. Why should he have to stay underground waiting for his return? This anger is what fed the darkness within him.
Marik decided he would finally take his fate into his own hands. He became the leader of the Rare Hunters, hunting down duelists for their rare cards so he could be the top four in the Battle City Tournament.
Controlling many of his followers with his Millenium Rod, Marik felt invincible. Stooping so low to take control over Yugi's best friend Joey Wheeler and Tea Gardener. After failing to get rid of the Pharaoh using Joey, failing for a second time against Yami no Yugi.
Since Marik only used puppets, Yugi and company never knew what he looked like. Marik teamed up with Yami no Bakura, promising him his Millenium Rod in return for helping him destroy the Pharaoh.
Pretending to be a boy named Namu to get closer to Yugi and his friends, Marik was then safe from suspicion. Once gaining the trust of Yugi, Marik was unbeatable....or so he thought.
During Joey's battle with Odion, or 'Marik' Odion was rendered unconscious, allowing the evil within Marik to unleash itself. This thing was much more sinister than Marik could ever dream of being. Long story short, Yami no Marik sent Mai, to the shadow realm, his former self, and caused large amounts of suffering during the Battle City finals.
Finally, Yugi/Yami were able to defeat the evil within Marik, allowing the good in him to return and forfeit the match. As part of the rules, Marik handed over his Winged Dragon of Ra, allowing him to show the markings on his back, to help the Pharaoh search for his lost past. Afterward, he, Ishizu, and Odion made their way back to Egypt to await the Pharaoh's return.
Likes: Motorcycles, his desk, helping the pharaoh, Odion, Ishizu, keeping order
Dislikes: Yami no Marik, being proved weak, the darkness underground, the fear of the darkness coming back and swallowing him whole.

Sample RP: Marik couldn't believe his eyes: He was back home. The minute he got off the plane, he kicked off his black shoes so he could wiggle his toes in the hot Egyptian sand. "I....can't believe we're home!" He cried to Ishizu and Odion. He paused for a moment; all of the guilt suddenly hitting him in the face. He saw the weariness in their faces. 'Odion....I almost lost you for good.' He thought to himself. He wondered how Ishizu could have stood him. Always watching him...begging for him to come to his senses. Even with the hot sand beaming on his blond hair, Marik still felt cold.
He heard a voice. "Master, are you alright?" He looked up, his eyes wide as plates. "O-Odion!" He smiled, standing up, as he realized he must've been on his knees for quite some time, obviously lost in his thoughts as per usual. "Are you alright?" He repeated. "Yes, yes, I'm alright. However," He began, dusting the sand from his khaki pants. "You musn't call me that any longer." His tone was very serious. "It's Marik, alright? You're Odion, and I'm Marik we're....we're brothers." Marik said, carefully choosing his words. "Without you, I would've been dead long ago."
Marik was going to go on, before he heard his sister call to them. "Come! It's time we go back to our home. It's much too hot to be standing out here!" Marik nodded in agreement along with Odion as the walked towards Ishizu.
